History of the Animals in Schools Education Trust (AISET)

Bons exemplos. Mas estamos nos antípodas em mais do que uma maneira.

In the early 1990’s past New Zealand Veterinary Association President Dr Catherine Smith became concerned about the unbalanced animal material being provided to school by certain interest parties. This made it hard for teachers to evaluate and present information to their pupils on subjects such as the use of animals in research, teaching and testing. In response to this, the Animals in Schools Education Trust (AISET) was formed and incorporated under the Charitable Trusts Act in 1993.
AISET’s principal activity is to endorse balanced material on animals in all roles in society, including as pets, as working animals, in the farming sector, and in research, teaching and testing. AISET believes this information must promote the care and welfare of animals in all of these roles.
The AISET trustees include a wide range of individuals and organisations reflecting the animal related and educational role of the organisation.
The AISET board is an experienced group, whose members include teachers, veterinarians, scientists and animal owners and interest group members whose combined experience and expertise result in the capability to identify information that meets these requirements.
AISET believes that teaching our young people about the importance of animal welfare will have a positive effect on their care for animals and one another.
